HEY. Rowe's class from today. DO option 1 below
About Me
Your write up about yourself! Picture? (see disclaimer!)
In today's 21st century world, students have been asked to create an e-portfolio to showcase their best school work as on ongoing project. Students at our school have been doing portfolios for quite a few years, and we have since moved them to electronic portfolios.
We (teachers) have done our best telling students NOT to include their full name or any identifiable pictures of themselves on their websites.
Pictures may include what they are interested in (e.g., soccer ball, piano, books, history document).
Although Google and other search engines are pretty good at finding students on the internet, the student portfolios are not to be used outside of school. Students' e-portfolio links should only be shared with teachers. However, the portfolios could certainly be shared with a college admittance officer or a potential employer. Students may wish to advertise or share their websites at their, along with parents', discretion.

This site is not at all intended to be "Social" at all. Weebly does offer Social Media buttons to add to your site. Our recommendation to students is to turn them off or not even add them.
If you would like...
- Technology help to create your portfolio - Contact Mr. Smedberg in the Media Center
- To see some samples and more information - Visit SLCC (keep in mind these are college students and they have pictures of themselves)
- To know what content to use - Contact your individual teacher.
Today in Class - stuff below will NOT be on YOUR website. It is what we ARE doing!
I get the pleasure of showing you how to create this website at Weebly.com. Today we will get through most of this
- Setting up this "skeleton" site up.
- Adding or Uploading a picture
- Starting your "Bio"
- Adding some Content
- Uploading a file (converting a Word to a pdf)
- Creating a link to a Google doc. Best option
- PS. I deliberately picked this "ugly" theme and had you put in NO pictures so that YOU can add your own "BLING" as individuals.
File uploads / Links
1. Get Weebly ready.
In the edit tool bar. Click on the "Bulleted List" icon.
|
Option 1 (pdf) upload
Open your Google file Click "File" and Download As pdf. (KNOW WHERE YOU SAVED IT and NAME it CORRECTLY!) 1. To add your file as a regular looking link
CONS If you change the file you have to go through the above steps EACH TIME. |
Option 2. (G doc) Link
Get your LINK from Google Drive.

WWID... IMHO Use your personal Google account. Why? Because all your files are on-line and easy to get to from ANYWHERE, and on any device. If you change your file contents at any time the file is changed everywhere. You do not have re-save and re-upload the file.
Oh and ... You will LOOSE your Google Drive 30 days after graduation. So move ALL your files to a personal account.
